Ten Years of Fashion Revolution

Ten Years of Fashion Revolution
Since the devastating collapse of Rana Plaza, our collective journey towards a more ethical and sustainable fashion industry has seen remarkable progress, particularly within the European Union. Stringent regulations like the EU Garment Worker Protection Act have been put in place, ensuring comprehensive safety standards and regular audits throughout the supply chain. These measures are crucial steps towards safeguarding the rights and well-being of garment workers.

Yet, recent demands from Bangladesh garment workers for increased wages serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by those within the industry. Despite the strides made in terms of safety, issues of fair compensation and decent working conditions persist.

Amidst these complexities, the inception of The Bangladesh Accord stands out as a beacon of hope. Formed in the aftermath of Rana Plaza, this agreement brings together brands, manufacturers, and union representatives in a collective effort to ensure the safety of garment workers. With over 200 fashion brands now legally bound to contribute to safety checks and repairs, the accord represents a tangible commitment to accountability and responsibility.

As we reflect on the transformative impact of Rana Plaza, we also celebrate a significant milestone: the 10th anniversary of the Fashion Revolution movement. Emerging in the wake of the tragedy, Fashion Revolution has been at the forefront of advocating for fair labor practices and transparency in the fashion industry. This year, as we mark a decade of activism and awareness-building, we invite you to join us in commemorating this milestone.
